William Henry Smith Genealogy(18.) IV. WILLIAM HENRY SMITH [27-8] b. Dec. 26, 1808, m. Nov.
5. 1837 Lydia Pettingill, daughter of Benjamin Pettingill of Salisbury, N. H.,
who died at St. Louis Feb. 10, 1841, of consumption, a. 29. Mr. Smith resided at
Franklin, N. H. from 1822 to 1833, then removed to St. Louis, and in connection
with John Cavender, and James Smith his brother constituted the firm of Smith,
Brothers & Co., which was dissolved after the destructive fire of 1849, their
store being burned.
