Lieut. David Jones Genealogy

Lieut. David3 Jones (Hugh2 Hugh1) of Woburn, Massachusetts. He was born in Woburn, July 27, 1716. Went to Dracut with his parents in 1733, and lived there and in the adjoining town of Pelham, New Hampshire, nearly fifty years. January 17, 1781 he bought of Clisha White, a large farm in Lancaster where he removed and lived until his death, January 20, 1795. He served as Sergeant from April 13, to November 11, 1758, commanded by Capt. Ebenezer Jones, afterwards by Capt. Isaac Osgood, in a Crown Point expedition in the Revolution, he served as Lieut. in Capt. Joseph B. Varnum's Company, Col. Jonathan Reed's Regiment, from September 29, to October 29, 1777, sent to reinforce General Gates army at Saratoga, and was present at Burgoyne's surrender.

He married first, November 10, 1738, Hannah, born January 7, 1714, died after 1170, daughter of Dea. Nathaniel and Hannah (Merriam) Fox of Concord and Dracut. He married second, December 17, 1777, Mary, born in 1726, died in 1805, daughter of Halt, formerly wife of John Pratt of Harvard and second of James Godfrey of Lancaster.

1. Hannah, born March 9, 1739. Married April 9, 1762, William, born December 20, 1731, son of William and Tabitha Coburn of Dracut.
2. David, born February 12, 1740-1.
3. Samuel, born August 25, 1742, died in 1835. Married first, February 20, 1779, Sarah Pratt. Married second, Mrs. Mercy Haskell.
4. Lydia, born June 30, 1743-4.
5. Jesse, born January 1, 1745-6.
6. Molley, born April 27, 1748.
7. Joshua, born July 7, 1750.
8. Mariam, born May 27, 1752.
