Isaac Parish Genealogy

ISAAC² PARISH  (John¹), born in Ipswich, Mass., 17 Mar. 1697, married in Windham, Conn., 31 Mar. 1721, MARGARET SMITH, who died there 20 Dec. 1753, aged 55. Leaving Stonington, Conn., he went to Windham and bought land there, as recorded in several deeds, the earliest being dated 2 Aug. 1720. The History of Windham County says that Isaac Parish (probably this one) "kept a tavern in Windham before 1760," and that John Parish (? his son) "took out a tavern license in Windham in 1760." His estate was distributed 23 Jan. 1765. Children:

2. ISAAC, b. in Windham 16 Dec. 1723. Not mentioned in the distribution of his father's estate in 1765.

3. ZEBULON, b. in Windham 12 Feb. 1726.

4. JERUSHA, b. 6 Nov. 1727; m. 21 Apr. 1745, JACOB SIMONS, who d. in Windham 10 Apr. 1760. Children: 1. Jerusha, b. 2 Nov. 1747. 2. Shuball, b. 6 Nov. 1749. 3. Eunice, b. 29 Oct. 1751. 4. Elijah, b. 21 Dec. 1753; d. in Windham 8 Oct. 1754. 5. Anna, b. 21 Mar. 1756. 6. Mary, b. 28 Mar. 1760.

5. OLIVER, b. in Windham 29 July 1730.

6. JOHN, b. in Windham 24 July 1732.

7. MARGARET, b. in Windham 10 Oct. 1735; m. 24 May 1761, EBENEZER KINGSBURY of Windham. Children, all b. in Windham: 1. Margaret, b. 3 Jan. 1763. 2. Alfred, b. 7 Jan. 1765. 3. Eunice (twin), b. 5 Sept. 1767. 4. Joseph (twin), b. 5 Sept. 1767.

9. ESTER, b. in Windham 15 June 1738; m. 26 Jan. 1758, JOSEPH SESSIONS, JR., of Windham, b. 12 Sept. 1734. They had Ester, b. in Windham 6 June 1758.

10. SUSANNAH, b. in Windham 20 Oct. 1742; m. 18 Feb. 1762, JOHN SPOFFORD of Windham, b. 25 July 1736, son of Francis and Priscilla (Walcott). They later settled in Lisbon, Conn., but their children were all b. in Windham. Several of them removed to Mansfield, Conn. Children: 1. Oliver, b. 27 Aug. 1762. 2. Lester, b. 20 Mar. 1764. 3. Abel, b. 31 July 1766. 4. Lydia, b. 6 June 1768. 5. Minor, b. 19 Mar. 1770.
