Second Painter Family Reunion
The second annual reunion of the Painter Family, held at
Cummin's Park, Sept. 13, 1903, was attended by a large crowd of members and
friends.
After a bountiful dinner, the meeting was called to order by W. C. Hess, of
Middletown, Ind., who acted as president pro tem., in the absence of Mr. P. P.
Painter, who was in Los Angeles, Cal.
After a song by the assembly, prayer was offered by George W. A. Painter, of
Summitville, Ind. A quartet consisting of Messrs. Stoute, Walker, B. H. Painter
and Ora D. Sanders, of Middletown, Ind., rendered a fine vocal selection.
Minutes of the first meeting
were then read and approved. No enrollment was called for.
Another quartet, consisting of George Brown and wife, of Summitville, Ind., and
Lewis Painter and wife, of Alexandria, Ind., rendered a vocal selection.
Dr. L. H. Painter, of Cowan, Ind., then delivered the speech of the day, which
was of merit and an honor to the occasion.
A second selection by the first quartets was then sung.
An original poem, entitled "Our Grandfathers,"
was read by B. H. Painter.
The election of officers resulted in a unanimous vote to retain those already in
office, viz.: P. P. Painter, President; L. H. Painter, M. D., Vice-President,
and B. H. Painter, M. D., Secretary and Treasurer.
The Executive Committee for the following year is William A. Painter, Chairman.
Sanford Painter, of Middletown, Ind.
John James Painter, of Muncie, Ind. Josiah D. Painter, of Springport, Ind.
George W. A. Painter, of Summitville, Ind.
Treasurer reports a balance of $7.15. The meeting was then adjourned.
Respectfully submitted,
W. C. HESS, Pres. pro tem.
B. H. PAINTER, M. D., Sec.
CUMMIN'S PARK, Delaware Co., Ind., Sept. 13, 1904.
