(6) SARAH A. J. PAINTER, the sixth child of Absalom and Sarah Painter, was married, Oct. 18, 1849, to Thomas Sanders. She was born near New Market, in Shenandoah County, Va., and came to this country with her parents when a mere infant. She resides at present in Middletown, Ind. To Thomas and Sarah Sanders were born four sons and five daughters.

(1) Amanda J. Sanders. Born Sept. 29, 1850. Married, Jan. 18, 1877, to Granville Sheets, of Middletown, Ind. They have three children.

(1) Orion Sheets. Born May 28. 1878

(2) Lester Sheets. Born Oct. 30, 1879.

(3) Ada Sheets was married, June 27, 1901, to Frank S. Smith, of Xenia, O. They have one daughter.

(1) Maxine Miriam Smith. Born Oct. 15, 1903.

(2) Walter J. Sanders. Born Aug. 28, 1852.

(3) Martha E. Sanders. Born July 31, 1854. Married, July 23, 1876, to Jacob Richey, of Rockingham County, Va. His occupation is farming, and his present post-office address is New Castle, Ind., R. F. D. NO. 3. They have two sons and three daughters.

(1) Carrie O. Richey. Born March 25, 1878.

(2) Cora M. Richey. Born March 29, 1880. Married, Nov. 27, 1901, to Jasper Lee Kerlin, son of David and Charlotte Kerlin.

(3) Orrville M. Richey. Born Apr. 24, 1882.

(4) Walter S. Richey. Born Dec. 15, 1884.

(5) Goldie I. Richey. Born Oct. 27, 1888.

(4) Fremont D. Sanders. Born March 14, 1857; died Apr. 1, 1857.

(5) Gillia Ann Sanders. Born Feb. 6, 1858. Married, Feb. 21, 1878, to Marion Richman, of Delaware County, Ind. They have five children.

(1) William Omar Richman. Born July 1, 1880.

(2) Russel Ray Richman. Born Oct. 18, 1882.

(3) Carrie Richman. Born Jan. 18, 1885.

(4) Alta Richman. Born Apr. 18, 1888.

(5) Carl Richman. Born Aug. 24, 1898.

(6) Ida F. Sanders. Born Apr. 17, 1860. Married, Dec. 21, 1885, to Frank Hodson, of Middletown, Ind., who died Aug. 21, 1889. To them were born two children.

(1) Gertrude Hodson. Born Oct. 13. 1886.

(2) Sheril Hodson. Born May 17, 1888; died Feb. 17, 1889

(7) William Lincoln Sanders. Born July 24, 1864; died Sept. 15, 1875.

(8) Cornelia V. Sanders. Born July 24, 1864. Married, July 27, 1889, to Joseph P. Cummins, of Middletown, Ind. They have one child.

(1) Sarah E. Cummins. Born Nov. 23, 1900.
 

(9) Charles L. Sanders. Born Sept. 28, 1867. Married, Aug. 19, 1896, to Laura Bowers, a daughter of Michael and Martha Bowers, of Delaware County, Ind. To them have been born three children.

(1) Olive L. Sanders. Born May 28, 1897. died Apr. 19, 1901.
(2) Clifford B. Sanders. Born Oct. 19, 1899.
(3) Lloyd W. Sanders. Born Jan. 11, 1903.
