Samuel Daily Painter(2) SAMUEL DAILY PAINTER, second son of Absalom and Sarah Painter, was married, May 17, 1838. to Anna Rader. He was a prominent farmer and an enterprising citizen; he served severalterms as township trustee and as commissioner of Henry County, Ind. His old farm residence west of "Frye's Mill" is now owned by his son, Horace G. Painter. To Samuel D. and Anna Painter were horn four sons and four daughters. (1) John Randolph Painter. Born March 24, 1839; died Oct. 6, 1859. (2) Mary Jane Painter. Born Nov. 13, 1840. Married, Apr. 9, 1862, to James Groenendyke. He is a prominent farmer and manufacturer, being the maker of the celebrated "Favorite Washing Machine." His residence, farm and factory are situated four and one-half miles east of Middletown, Ind. To them have been born four children.
(3) David Monroe Painter. Born Nov. 20, 1844. Married, Dec. 18, 1866, to Rosanna Johnson, a daughter of Anderson and Elizabeth Tohnson. He lives on the farm adjoining the homestead on the west, and is famous throughout his own neighborhood as a successful thresherman. His threshing-machine has been the busiest and the best in the locality for many years. He has four children.
(4) Sanford Marion Painter. Born Feb. 28, 1847. Married, Aug. 14, 1869, to Eva Condover, daughter of John and Rosanna Condover. She was horn in Germany, and came to this country with her parents while yet in early life. They live in Middletown, Ind. (5) Julia Ann Painter. Born Nov. 5, 1849. Married, Dec. 12, 1876, to David Hencil Crittenberger, of Middletown, Ind. To them were born three children.
(6) Amanda Painter. Born Sept. 27, 1853. Married, Dec. 28, 1881, to William Clinton Hess, son of Milton T. and Elizabeth Hess, of Cadiz, Ind. They are residents of Middletown, Ind., where Mr. Hess has large business interests. He is an ex-treasurer of Henry County, Ind., which office he held in the years 1900 and 1901. They have one son.
(7) Almeda Painter. Born Apr. 11, 1857. Married, Dec. 25, 1890, to Perry Frazier, son of Abram and Sylvia J. Frazier, of Messick, Ind. They live in New Castle, Ind., where Mr. Frazier is engaged in the manufacturing business. (8) Horace G. Painter. Born Aug. 29, 1859. Married, Oct. 19, 1886, to Amanda F. Lindamood, daughter of Enos and Elizabeth Lindamood. They live on the old homestead farm west of "Frye's Mill." To them has been born one son.
