Loring G. Matheny (1840-1932) teacher of Athens County, Ohio, attended Albany
Manual Training Institute and Ohio University. At the outbreak of the Civil War
he was among those who enlisted in the 63rd Reg. O.V.I. He served until the
close of the war, being mustered out with the commission of second lieutenant.
He married Nov. 17, 1869 Hannah M. Martin (b. Aug. 12, 1844 and d. Apr. 9,
1914). She was a daughter of William and Mary Ann (Bodine) Martin who came to
Athens County from Hunterdon County in New Jersey. Issue of Loring and Hannah
Matheny were:
